June Solstice 2021

Winter, wet and the snow is on the mountains. The frosts and cold mornings will sit across the valley where my Peony grow. A whole paddock of peony are planted, and this spring there will be flowers! There’s a large swathe of Coral Sunset planted in rows together, and a section of Reds, and Pinks, and Whites planted side by side.
The past 12 months have been busy- preparing the land, planting the root stock- and preparing them first. And now we reach mid-winter and they rest, and so do I. Early Spring will be exciting, as first shoots appear, grow larger with bright green leaves, buds appear, and then the beautiful flowers! I can’t wait to share the pictures.

A Whole Paddock?

I have a Dream….a whole paddock full of flowers. Peonies. In full bloom!
And I’m standing in it, with sun on my back and a gentle breeze making the flowers sway.
Yes, it’s a dream. But I HAVE started growing Peonies, and I’m in a paddock surrounded by grass nearly long enough to make hay. And in the centre on a small area are plants growing, and flowers in bloom. And the DREAM has started!
I took the first step, then more steps forward and one day my paddock will be full of flowers!
